Nature is preserved in large and small areas.

Snipes Beach Park, Duck Pond and Schmidt Woods, are important areas for conservation of wildlife in the Meadowlands. In the northern sector of the city is Mill Creek Marsh, with patches of grass in the marshes and brackish water long courses, is home to 260 species of birds, including 15 endangered species under state protection program . A path of travel about a mile next to the big shops in the area, provide special access for bird watching.
